microblading eyebrows

Since 2016, Melbourne has been experiencing a real boom in microblading eyebrows. It is advertised as “the most natural, modern, innovative way” of miraculously transforming your face. The procedure itself is painless and non-traumatic. The pigment completely disappears after 8-12 months…..

That’s marketing. And now the facts:

Is it innovative?

The “New and modern” method is nothing but the ancient Chinese eyebrow tattooing technique. It has been used for centuries, mainly in poor Chinese neighbourhoods, as the necessary material can be purchased relatively cheaply. Thus, people with low incomes could also afford tattooing. This is such an innovation.

What is Microblading?

That’s right, in English, it means “mini incisions”, and that’s precisely what happens during the procedure. A unique blade attached to a holder is dipped in pigment, and the skin is incised. This procedure is presented as “non-traumatic” and “painless”.

What happens with microblading?

The skin is cut with a blade to the dermis layer, like a scalpel. Then, pigment is injected into these incisions. What is an incision? An incision is an injury to the top layer of the skin, accompanied by blood production and scarring.

Does it look very natural?

The result is supposedly very natural. This is the strongest argument used in microblading adverts. “The hairs are styled in a very natural way and it is almost impossible to distinguish them from your own eyebrows”.

Naturally, the advert uses photos of freshly done work. And I must admit that they look lovely and natural. And here lies the catchYou can judge the work done only by healing (3-4 days after the procedure.

Immediately after the procedure, the damaged skin tightens and shrinks (a natural reaction to the trauma). However, the following occurs: The wounds (incisions) hea,l and micro-, and scars appear. The applied pigment migrates in the dermis and settles. Because of this, the lines become thicker and partially blurred. The applied pigment was partially mixed with haemosiderin since the skin was bleeding during the procedure. It settles in the skin for a long time, changing colour into blue, violet, pink, and orange.

Eyebrow Aftercare

  • Redness around the tattoo is allowed.
  • On the 4th-7th day, the crust comes off.
  • Correction is needed in almost 90% of cases.
  • The gel should be applied 4-5 times a day for 4-5 days (thin layer), and preliminarily wipe the eyebrows with chlorhexidine or mirage tin.

Care of permanent eyeliner  is every day immediately after the procedure.

  • As a rule, the strongest swelling is the following day after the procedure.
  • Swelling can last up to 4 days.
  • You can compress it with a solution of chlorhexidine or microcystin.

Lip Aftercare Depending on the skin’s activity, the healing process results in its regeneration in 3 to 7 days.

  • Then, within 2-3 weeks, pigment colour stabilisation is achieved. These days can be divided into several stages. For the first two days, permanent makeup looks intensely bright because the colour is applied, considering it will lighten the pigment and can acquire dark brown colours mixed with skin, lymph and blood vessels.
  • On the 3-5 days after the procedure, there is an active peeling process.
  • Immediately after the procedure is allowed a slight swelling, which will subside after a few hours.
  • Applying Bepanten+ cream 3-5 timedailyay for 7-9 days is recommended.
